The Right Opportunity at The Right Time:
The position is one in which technology meets advertising but 100% sales in nature. The Regional Sales Manager reports directly to the Area Director, who is the chief spokesman and evangelist for ReachLocal in the designated territory. This role calls for a skill set that goes well beyond the traditional sales management profile to create excitement in the office and territory throughout which ReachLocal is expanding. ReachLocal is looking for a tactfully but aggressive Manager with the confidence, passion and hunger necessary to help build a leading sales team.
- The incoming Regional Sales Manager for ReachLocal will be called upon to use his/her dynamic personality, proven track record of achievement and leadership ability to launch a new market from scratch and build a team to exceed sales expectations.
- As such, the RSM will be called upon to be THE anointed leader in a sales-based organization and culture that has grown rapidly in less the 4 years. The selected individual will lead and develop sales representatives in the local market place.
- You must be able to not only to evangelize the ReachLocal story and increase sales but help develop the company's position as the category leader delivering technology-enabled, full-service online advertising solutions to small and medium businesses in the local market.
- The RSM will help lead by developing best practices and setting guidelines in which the sales reps will operate on a daily basis. Your job is to build and lead an advertising sales team and add to the already significant traction that ReachLocal has achieved in the market.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
The new Regional Sales Manager for ReachLocal will be called upon to:
- Develop, manage and execute a successful sales cycle across as many as 20 sales reps, selling the core line of technology-based advertising products/services
- Proactively assume a role in developing & executing strategies to build a phenomenal sales culture and productive team that is residually paid commission by focusing on customer's needs and retention.
- Execute day-to-day call cycle management, using a wide variety of techniques, from traditional advertising sales philosophy's to highly technical consultative sales techniques.
- Develop a dynamic team by teaching and mentoring to your hand picked sales team
- Track results and communicate to senior management
- Identify and coordinate potential business with the reps & Area Director
- Ensure consistency with the message or ReachLocal on a daily basis
- Take part in weekly meetings to address concerns & acknowledge individual/ team accomplishments
- Identify and build relationships within your office to help produce future leaders
- In general, be the best RSM you can be.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 2+ years of Management level Advertising/Media experience or 5-7 yrs of highly productive sales with a track-able sales history
- Proven record of success in developing sales teams and delivering significant sales growth in the local market
- Solid knowledge of ad sales and new media advertising products is a major plus
- Experience with all facets of building and executing successful sales teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to build sales knowledge that can tell the Reachlocal story from the beginning and effectively sell a complex solution in very simple terms.
- Strong time management skills and management philosophy that fits the ReachLocal culture
- Willingness to live and work in the local sales area or relocate at own expense.
