Few companies have a better vantage point from which to judge the lack of technical sophistication of local merchants than ReachLocal. Similarly, few are better positioned to reimagine the way consumers interface with these service providers.

Over the past 15 years we have seen e-commerce massively transform the way we book and buy products, from travel to retail. However, when it comes to the way consumers book and buy services, specifically local services (think plumbers, handymen, dentists) not much has changed.

Today’s advice comes from our interview with Nathan Hanks, co-founder of the online marketing company ReachLocal:
Display advertising can be a great way to build brand recognition for your up and coming business, but you need to follow a few simple practices to get the most out of your online advertising dollars.

If your business gets some decent revenue, it’s likely that you would be interested in advertising on the Web if you haven’t done so already. It’s not as simple, though, as simply uploading some text or an image and pressing “Next” on your browser.

I thought ReachLocal already offered this: display advertising for SMBs using retargeting. Apparently not.

 

ReachLocal has combined its search and site retargeting platform to give small and medium-sized (SMBs) businesses the opportunity to reach local consumers online with targeting tools similar to those used by Fortune 500 companies.
On last week’s Q2 earnings call, local online marketing firm ReachLocal emphasized how its international expansion will fuel its growth. Plus the company offered a glimpse into its efforts to expand into smaller U.S.
