The ReachLocal Star Award is an annual recognition of one individual within the company that transforms and inspires the lives of his or her colleagues, in both their personal and professional lives. The award was initially conceived as a tribute to the late Justin Brookes, a passionate member of the ReachLocal community, whom we lost suddenly in 2010, and continues to celebrate those who go above and beyond day after day.
Exuding the same commitment and zest for life as Justin, the ReachLocal Star is someone who unconditionally demonstrates three key qualities: Team First, Servant Leadership, and Customer Focus. The ReachLocal Star has become central to our company culture, with employees anonymously nominating their peers, five deserving finalists chosen from hundreds, and the winner ultimately announced to the entire global community. The ReachLocal Star receives a beautiful crystal award, a $5,000 cash prize, and a $5,000 donation to the charity of his or her choice.
Ken Leicester - 2012
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Ken Leicester is Director of Learning and Performance Systems. In this role, Ken manages a team that designs and delivers product, sales, and technical training to all of Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this role, Ken served as a Sales Performance Manager in the Sydney office. He has been with ReachLocal since 2007. Ken’s chosen charity is environmental organization Greenfleet, which will offset the carbon footprint of ReachLocal Australia’s offices for 12 months. Ken’s favorite part about working at ReachLocal is “being surrounded by talent. Whichever way you tip the pyramid, the talent is rich and deep, top down or bottom up. Whatever way you look, it’s simply a great place to be.”
Asta Reklaityte - 2011
Asta Reklaityte serves as a Sales Operations Manager in our Amsterdam office. She is responsible for the on-boarding, training, and development of Client Services Consultants as well as the creation and implementation of new sales processes. She began her ReachLocal career as a finance intern and has held many roles over her past three years with the company. Asta’s charity choice was childhood cancer fund Regute, based in her home country of Lithuania. According to Asta, “ReachLocal is not just a job for me, it’s a place with lots of opportunities and I just want to grab all of those and not let any of them pass by.”

Justin Brookes was an immensely passionate and driven member of the ReachLocal community. He began his career as a smart, ambitious Client Services Consultant in Chicago before transitioning to a Field Services Manager, and finally, an Integrated Marketing Manager in Dallas. Justin took great pride in everything he did, and was always first to lend a helping hand, no matter what the task. His motivation, determination, and always-positive attitude truly inspired everyone around him. As a colleague once said, “Justin’s impact on me individually was huge, and I will always strive to be the kind of professional he was.”
