Internet Marketing ConsultantI have been an Internet Marketing Consultant at ReachLocal for over two years now. I am so glad to be working for a company like ReachLocal. I love the corporate culture here. I find that everyone at ReachLocal actually wants to be here and it comes through on a daily basis whether you are talking to management or support. If you need help, someone is always willing to lend a hand.
I love that we do not have territories here and that we can hit most small- to medium-sized business in any vertical. At my previous employer, I had a territory and could only focus on one vertical. It was very limiting to accomplishing my sales goals. I also love that ReachLocal is on the cutting edge with technology. There is never a dull moment here as we are constantly adding new products and services. I am excited to see what will happen in the next few years with my company. We have been growing so fast and it is very exciting.
My favorite thing about working at ReachLocal is that I have a lot of autonomy. If you are selling and working hard, no one really bothers you. I treat my job here as if I am running my own business. I want to continue to grow my book of business and build my own sales team. There is so much opportunity here because I get paid residual income on every sale that I make and retain.
A typical day at ReachLocal for me is hitting the streets cold calling. I cold call in person all day and leave materials behind if I can't get an appointment. I talk to everyone I meet about ReachLocal.
One thing I would tell new or potential hires is that it definitely takes hard work and dedication to be successful here. You must be willing, in the beginning, to put in a lot of hours. This will get you to where you need to be faster. After your book is at a healthy amount, you can slow down a bit if you want or you can hire an Account Manager to help you grow your book. I opted to hire two Account Managers and have not stopped growing my book of business. I can sell this product with integrity because I know it works.
I Love Reachlocal!

Internet Marketing ConsultantI started working for ReachLocal when the San Diego office opened in June of 2008. This was the first time in my career that I've worked for a start-up office and been a part of such tremendous growth. Within a year and a half, I've learned so much and can proudly say I love my job. The work is challenging and you have to be driven to be successful, but the reward of being able to work independently and be financially rewarded makes it worth it.
As a new IMC, the work load consists mostly of prospecting & cold calling, hitting the pavement, sending information in the mail, etc. Within 6 months of the job, I realized I was also starting to do a lot of account management and began to focus on customer retention. After 9 months, my book of business really started to grow and I was getting referrals and increasing current customer budgets.
My favorite thing about working for ReachLocal is being able to work for a technology company that is advanced far beyond our competition, and truly believing in a product I sell. The office environment is friendly and relaxed, and I also enjoy the benefit of working from home and being out in the field. The work load remains consistent, and one of the most important things about the job is being able to balance time between prospecting, selling and account management. I love what I do and believe in the products we sell.

Internet Marketing ConsultantI've had complete satisfaction with my decision to join the ReachLocal team. Having come from a much larger company, I thoroughly enjoy the autonomy of growing my account base in a launch market. The daily routine can be difficult at times, but the thought of the end goal and being part of such an aggressively growing company making it all worth while. I have, and will continue to, refer friends to ReachLocal as I welcome them to come along for this tremendous ride.

Internet Marketing ConsultantI have had many opportunities to speak with candidates who are considering employment at ReachLocal, and I am happy to share my thoughts. One of the things that I love about ReachLocal is that it is a dynamic, growing company. I love that we are able to make changes and add products based on the changes and evolution of the internet. I happily worked for AT&T Yellow Pages for 7 years, and I feel like I was on a luxury liner, sipping a cocktail, and jumped overboard landing on the ReachLocal speed boat, white knuckling it with the wind whipping through my hair. ReachLocal is positioned to quickly and nimbly navigate through the internet space; search, surf, social and who knows what next. It is a blast!
What is it like to work for ReachLocal? It is like running your own business. You need to have a strategy in place. You need to have a business plan and goals in mind. In the beginning, plan on working 24/7 if you want to reach the higher echelon of sales. Eat, breathe, sleep ReachLocal, constantly lead generating, driving all over to meet clients, analyzing results. And it is fun! It is amazing to see what an impact you can have on the livelihood of local businesses and their employees. When I left AT&T, I was thinking that I was selling advertising on Google & Yahoo. Working at RL is so much more. Your ability to impact a local business is huge. Since we record phone calls, I have worked with business on their intake protocol. Everything from training their personnel, to evaluating how their business operates, to discussing profit margins and angles to growing their businesses. It is extremely gratifying.
In this economy, I truly feel blessed to work at ReachLocal (I know it sounds corny, but there is a lot of suffering out there, and I am HAPPILY employed!).
